I’m a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Victoria, double majoring in Sociology and Gender Studies. I’m originally from Beijing, China. I’ve spent the past ten years studying as an international student in Canada, an experience that has shaped my adaptability, cross-cultural understanding, and passion for advocacy. My commitment to gender equality and social justice led me to UVic, one of the few universities offering a dedicated Gender Studies program.

Throughout my academic journey, I’ve cultivated a strong foundation in project development, event planning, and collaborative teamwork. In particular, my coursework has involved conducting multiple social research projects, equipping me with critical thinking, data analysis, and research methodology skills. Beyond academics, I’ve actively engaged with UVic faculty, contributing to the Pacific Asian Studies forums and assisting in the development of course materials—an experience that has strengthened my communication, academic writing, and content development skills.

Outside of academia, my creative interests have led me to video production and editing. I’ve participated in multiple self-shot music video projects with friends, taking on roles as an actor, script editor, and video retoucher. This hands-on experience honed my storytelling abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in visual media production. Additionally, working on promotional materials has given me insight into advertising and media communication strategies.

As a result, my diverse experiences—spanning research, event coordination, media production, and teamwork—have shaped my ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and bring creative ideas to life. Therefore, I’m eager to apply these skills to future opportunities and continue growing both professionally and personally.
